Master of Public Health

Baldwin Wallace University (BW) and The MetroHealth System have partnered to form BW’s Master of Public Health (MPH) program, the first interdisciplinary program in Ohio jointly developed by an academic institution and an essential health system. The MPH degree focuses on population health, addressing social determinants of health needs across communities and patient groups, and imparts skills in advancing population health science and practice. Currently, there are two concentrations, Population Health Leadership & Management and Health Promotion & Disease Prevention. In 2022, the program plans to add concentrations in Epidemiology and Population Health Analytics. The curriculum is interdisciplinary and applied in nature and emphasizes the importance of social justice and service to vulnerable communities for improving population health.

Interdisciplinary and inter-institutional faculty within the MPH program prepare students for professional challenges and opportunities in population health promotion and leadership through their experience, fieldwork, professional networks and distinguished academic credentials.

HyFlex Learning for the Working Professional: You can attend the class either in-person, virtually in real-time, or virtually asynchronously!

Designed to meet the needs of working professionals and individuals currently employed in health care, public health, educational settings, non-profit, public, or private industries, the MPH program is offered part-time with optional in-person or online immersive classroom experiences in a clinical setting. MPH’s HyFlex structure allows students to interact in-person and online to ensure that all students can take part in rich engagement with peers and professors while balancing busy lives.

For those choosing in-person or online synchronous sessions, classes meet nine alternate weekends during the semester for four hours on Friday (5:30 PM – 9:00 PM) and four hours on Saturday (8:30 AM – 12:000 PM). Those choosing asynchronous sessions can complete their coursework at their own time during the designated semester. Typically, it takes two to three years (six to eight semesters) to complete the program in the part-time format.

MetroHealth Employee Benefits

MetroHealth employees qualify for a discount on program cost and reimbursement for eligible employees, up to $6,000 per year. This $768.75 per credit discount covers tuition, books and one meal per weekend for individuals who choose to learn in person. If taken over three years, the program would come in at under $15,000 if full tuition reimbursement is applied. This estimate is before financial aid is applied to the program.

BW’s tuition reimbursement plan allows students to pay their tuition at the end of the semester when your tuition benefit is available for students receiving tuition reimbursement from their employer.
