When is the application deadline?
Admission to the MPH program is on a rolling basis and application materials are reviewed by the admission committee upon submission. A new MPH cohort begins each August and candidates are encouraged to submit their application materials at least six weeks prior to the program’s start date.
Is there a minimum GPA requirement to apply to the MPH program?
Competitive candidates for admission will have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in all college and graduate work.
Is the GRE or GMAT required for admission to the MPH program?
No, the GRE or GMAT is not required for admission to the MPH program.
Is previous work experience required for admission to the MPH program?
While the MPH program does not have a work experience requirement as part of the admission process, our program is made up of individuals with varied professional backgrounds. Some students have recently graduated college while others have years of working experience within the healthcare industry.
I am an international student, are there any additional application requirements?
The admission committee will determine if the TOEFL is required upon evaluation of the application. Additionally, candidates with degrees earned from foreign institutions must have their academic transcripts translated and verified by World Education Services (WES), an international credential evaluation service.
Can the program be completed in less than three years?
Possibly. Candidates may work with the MPH program director to determine the availability of completing credit requirements in a more streamlined approach
Can students transfer in coursework to the MPH program?
Candidates who have already completed graduate coursework may work with the MPH program director to determine eligibility. Up to six credits of graduate coursework may transfer in depending on course content.
Which concentration should I choose?
Students in the MPH program don’t have to select their intended track until the second year. This allows students to engage within the core curriculum coursework and develop insight into the two main concentration areas.
Within the same course, can I choose to be either online or in-person depending on the day?
It is recommended that students select one modality per course (whether it is online or in-person). However, there is flexibility in cases such as sickness, family function, business travel, etc. Though we discourage making this a common practice.
If I choose to do one course on campus, can I do another course online?
Yes.
If I choose to do the program online, can I do one of my courses on campus?
Yes.
If I choose the asynchronous model, can I sometimes participate in the synchronous sessions?
Yes – we recommend students that have selected the asynchronous model to sometimes join in synchronous sessions so students are able to network with their peers.
There is a reference to an online coach starting Fall 2021. Do you have any more information on that?
Yes – starting Fall 2021, BW’s MPH program will have a Student Success Coach. The purpose of the Student Success Coach is to help students stay on track, assist them with locating resources for their program of study, support them throughout their coursework and help them reach their goals leading up to graduation. We are working to add this to the website but encourage the advisors to begin discussing this perk.
With the hyflex model, are asynchronous students watching the recording of the synchronous/live session? If so, would they have a slight delay on when they can access the curriculum?
Asynchronous students will watch a recording of the synchronous/live session, yes. There may be a slight delay in accessing the curriculum, but typically it will be made available within 24 hours.
