A Tuition-Free Master’s Degree Program That Takes Aim at the Teacher Shortage*
Building on recent funding from the Ohio Department of Higher Education under the Choose Ohio First STEM and Addressing the Educator Shortages grant programs, BW and Meteor Learning are adding additional scholarships that lower tuition to zero for a limited number of eligible students who enroll in BW’s graduate degree programs in math or science teaching for May 2023.
The accelerated program for existing bachelor’s degree holders is among the state’s only yearlong intensive graduate teaching programs and targets two disciplines–math and science–where the teacher shortage is most acute.
Under the innovative funding model, the aforementioned State grants bring the tuition for these programs down from $19,980 to just over $7,500, with scholarships covering the remaining out-of-pocket tuition cost of $7,500 for a limited number of students. The scholarship package is available to eligible aspiring teachers enrolling in the program that starts in the summer of 2023.
